Statement on Labour Party Election Leaflet

Al-Noor Foundation is a registered charity, so we are required to remain politically neutral and not to express support or oppose any political party or candidate.

An alleged endorsement of named Labour Party candidates has been attributed to Al-Noor Foundation and has appeared on a Labour Party election leaflet in the London Borough of Redbridge. We categorically deny the suggestion that either the Labour Party or its candidates having been endorsed by Al-Noor Foundation.

We are aware that the circumstances in which Al-Noor Foundation’s name came to appear on the leaflet raise serious concerns. The trustees have commenced an internal investigation and are taking steps to address the issue. We will be reporting the matter to the Charity Commission once our internal investigation is complete.

We apologise to our beneficiaries, the children and families we serve, our supporters, and the wider community for the concern and confusion this has caused. We are grateful to those who have raised the issue with us.
